Damage or theft of your rented vehicle will usually result in you being charged an 'Excess' - even if the damage was not your fault
'Collision Damage Waiver' is offered, or included, with most Motorhome Rental Agreements but there is usually a high excess remaining which you would be liable for in the event of a claim.

  2. Yes, if you are a resident of the UK or an EEA country. You can even hire in your home town (many policies exclude hires within 150km of your home)
  3. You must hold a valid, full internationally recognised driving licence
  4. Drivers must be aged between 23 and 84yrs.
  5. You are covered when driving on any Public Highway, i.e. any road made or unmade that is intended for use by the general public.
    The only exception is when travelling to/from accommodation, including Campsites, that is only accessible by unmade road and, in these circumstances, due care and attention must be exercised to minimise risk of any damage to the rental vehicle. There is no cover for Safaris or Adventure Trails.
  6. A Single Motorhome, Campervan or similar vehicle designed or intended to provide sleeping and living accommodation that does not exceed 7.5 tonnes, rented from a fully-licenced Rental Agency.
  7. -Non-rental vehicles or vehicles rented from anyone other than a fully-licenced Rental Agency
    - Vans, Trucks, non-passenger carrying vehicles
    - Motorcycles, Mopeds, Motorbikes
    - Off-road and recreational vehicles
    - Vehicles with a retail price exceeding £100,000, or vehicles which are over 20yrs old since first registration
    - Cars - go to excess insurance for Cars
  8. Yes, if you return the vehicle damaged, even if it was not your fault, you will be held liable for the charge set by the rental company. This insurance enables you to claim back the charges less a £350 excess on Excess Reimbursement claims. There are also other benefits such as mis-fuelling cover.

What to look out for when buying Vehicle Rental Insurance

When you rent a vehicle you will be advised of any charges (excesses or deductibles) that will apply if the vehicle is damaged or stolen during the period of hire. These charges can vary from a few hundred dollars to the full replacement cost of the vehicle.
Taking insurance to cover the excess charges gives you peace of mind that you won't be left out of pocket.

Is this insurance the same as the cover offered by the Rental Company? It can often be confusing when faced with a choice of policies particularly if differing terminology is used. You can be confident that this policy will cover you for all charges that you are contractually liable to pay to the Rental Company if the vehicle is damaged or stolen.

Is this type of insurance compulsory?
No – you could choose not to take any insurance cover at all, but with charges often in the thousands, you would be taking a great risk
You could choose to accept the insurance offered by the Rental Company on collection, but this is often costly and may exclude elements such as the vehicle underbody, roof, windows and tyres.

Remember – as this is an optional product, you can choose to decline the cover offered by the Rental Company and opt for our better value policy to claim back the charges. Although you should ensure that you have access to your insurance during the hire, the Rental Company does not need to have sight of, or approve the cover.
